How do we support Mid-Career Researchers? -

How do we support Mid-Career Researchers?

An opportunity to influence and shape this agenda.

Academic life is always busy, but mid-career researchers appear to be less well supported than other academics in shaping and reshaping their professional lives. Opportunities to engage with career development may be limited at a stage of life when work and family demands restrict time for engagement and reflection.

How can SRHE support these staff effectively?

For many people other pressures mean that the primary need is for inexpensive bite-sized, one day forums, workshops, or networking opportunities.  Others may prefer a more structured program-based approach, but this is often prohibitively expensive.

·       What are the themes and topics that will engage researchers?

·       What are the preferred delivery methods?

·       What would be helpful through online support?

·       Can we capture examples of support in place that is known to be effective?

·       Who should we invite to deliver material and events?

This 90-minute Zoom discussion session is intended to capture your ideas about gaps in provision and suggestions for support that fit with the SRHE mission.  Please get involved so that we can develop a program to suit our members.
