New Fellows of the Society: Suggested names...

by 17th May 2013

Suggestions for Fellowship are welcomed, and should be received by the Director of the Society by Friday 17 May 2013 via hsperkins@srhe.ac.uk

Fellowship of SRHE should be seen as a fitting reward and public recognition for those who have made a significant contribution in the field of research into higher education.

To be proposed for Fellowship an individual must:

• Have contributed significantly over a period of time to the field of   research into higher education;
• Have a reputation of substance in the field;
• Have produced a coherent corpus of work;
• Have the capacity to take on an advisory/representational role within the Society*
• Have normally been a member for a period of at least 5 years and be willing to remain a member.
• Epitomize professional conduct that matches the values of the Society

*examples of the types of contribution which would be sought from a Fellow
• Sitting on a main committee for a particular project ( ie strategic initiatives/capacity building)
• Presenting to Council on current work/role/engagement with HE
• Writing for SRHE News or other Society communications
• As appropriate assisting in SRHE responses to main consultations
• Stimulating the Society in its public and advisory role by suggesting areas where the Society should be active and involved

Fellows, whilst recognised for their scholarly contribution, should also have the capacity to play a part in taking the Society forward. Fellowship will be bestowed for life but, to continue to be listed as a Fellow, individuals must remain in membership of the Society and continue to be supportive of the Society.

Notes:

i) Any suggestions must be confidential and should not be discussed with the individual suggested.
ii) Any suggested Fellows must be members of the Society but if there is uncertainty of status this will be checked and confirmed on receipt.
iii) There is no guarantee of election and each suggestion is very carefully considered against the published criteria.(see below). The Society maintains a long list of potential Fellows and is happy to receive suggestions which may be considered in future years.
