Managing a Research Team

Tuesday, 05 March 2019

This new workshop forms part of an innovative programme of workshops and seminars planned and designed specifically for mid-career researchers. Researchers booking on this workshop, and others in the MCDP series, will be asked to respond to a questionnaire asking about their career and  how they see this workshop helping in their development as mid- career researchers. Places will be confirmed once these have been received with priority given to mid-career researchers and how development needs and interests have been defined in these responses.
This session is tailored for more experienced researchers, mid-career researchers, and associate professors. It is designed to help manage more mature research, including initiating and leading complex research projects, and capitalise on existing networks and academic contacts.

The following areas will be covered in this interactive session;

  • Putting together a research team;
  • Putting together work packages;
  • Content vs skills vs form;
  • Research plan and strategy – individual and group (including risk assessment);
  • Time management and planning;
  • Team coordination;
  • Mentoring.
