Higher Education Rising to the Challenge:
Balancing expectations of students, society and stakeholders
On behalf of the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE), we are delighted to announce the details of the SRHE Newer and Early Career Researchers Conference, which will take place on 5 December 2017 at Coldra Court, Newport, Wales, UK (part of the Celtic Manor group of hotels) The SRHE Newer Researchers Conference is an important and prestigious annual event which brings together newer researchers from around the world to share and present their research in a unique environment of peers and senior scholars in the field. The conference has a strong developmental focus and in addition to the presentation and discussion of individual research work, the programme includes a range of professional development seminars to choose from, small group discussions with senior scholars on their research work and academic writing and a wide range of different networking opportunities.
This year, echoing the theme of the SRHE International Annual Research Conference which follows on 6-8 December at the Celtic Manor, we invite you to contribute to the critical discussion around balancing the expectations of students, society and stakeholders You can participate in this year’s SRHE Conference by submitting an abstract and/or a poster for presentation. If you are new to higher education research you are most welcome to take advantage of the opportunity to experience this conference as a delegate, participate in all the discussions and the seminars and other opportunities on offer. Many new researchers chose to do this and to then submit and present a paper the following year.
There will be extensive networking time and the opportunity for all participants to discuss work in progress and seek the input of peers and senior scholars participating in this event. The SRHE Newer and Early Career Researchers Conference provides a unique space for newer researchers in higher education to share and discuss their ongoing work with peers in the international higher education research community in a stimulating, supportive and developmental environment.
This Conference brings together students and newer researchers in the early stages of a research career as well as those who may have more experience either in education, or in other fields, but are relatively new to the field of higher education research.
As part of our commitment to promoting the development of higher education research and researchers, we welcome abstracts or posters reporting on ongoing research as well as pilot or completed studies and work of a conceptual, theoretical or empirical nature. All submissions are peer-reviewed, resulting in a broad range of high quality presentations.
The Delegate fee for the SRHE Newer and early Career Researchers Conference is subsidised by the Society: £99 for SRHE members (Annual Student membership is £35 and provides free participation in all SRHE events during the year): £125 for non-members. A very limited number of residential places at subsidised rates (£395 for SRHE student members, £445 for non-members) will also be available to NR Conference participants who wish to also participate in the Annual Research Conference from 6-8 December 2017.
Abstracts should be no longer that max 450 words including 3 to 4 references and can be on any topic concerned with higher education.
