Home  /  Venue Conference Venue Liverpool: European Capital of Culture Year 2008 Liverpool sitting proudly on the River Mersey is famous for many things: its great maritime history to the production of the distinctive Merseybeat sound and most famously the Beatles. Selected as Europe's City of Culture for 2008, there is much to explore. The architecture is world-class, with more listed buildings than any city outside London. The Albert Dock is Liverpool's number one visitor attraction, showcasing the best of Liverpool in a stunning World Heritage waterfront setting and where we will be having our Welcome Reception. Also in the Dock is Tate Liverpool, the largest gallery of modern and contemporary art outside London, and the Maritime Museum with its fascinating galleries. And in the City Centre, the Walker Art Gallery, is one of the finest galleries in Europe. There is a wealth of public space for networking with colleagues (for the exclusive use of the Conference) and all Conference sessions will take place at this one venue. There is a rail link from Manchester Airport directly into Liverpool City Centre. (Journey time 1.5 hours).
