Helen Perkins has been the Director of SRHE since January 2005.

She brings to the Society a wealth of experience in the public and private sector and considerable knowledge of the Higher Education field from her involvement on numerous Government and Higher Education advisory bodies and Councils over many years and from her time as deputy chairman of Staffordshire University Board of Governors, pre and post 1992.

Helen holds a Masters degree in Experimental Psychology and Philosophy and has post graduate qualifications in Psychometrics. Her early career was spent in the manufacturing industries of chemicals, construction and steel making, where she was initially in Industrial Relations Management and later a senior manager in Personnel and Management Development. This was a followed by a career move to the city sector, as Director Human Resources Development for Pricewaterhouse Europe and subsequently a career in management consultancy, focusing especially on organisational development and behaviour, management development and assessment methodologies. For many years Helen was Chairman of the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR), the employers organisation representing businesses large and small, engaged in graduate recruitment and development. In this capacity she led a major project to establish a framework for best practice in the recruitment and continuous development of graduates in employment and spearheaded new initiatives designed to foster effective partnerships between business and higher education.
